2nd Draft Of My Front Cover Construction

Here is the construction of my 2nd drafts i done this to show the changes i have made from my 1st draft.

To start editing my cover i placed a background image behind the text and image to make the cover look like it is from a music magazine. i then went on to make the cover lines bigger on the page so they would stand out more and so there isn't as much blank space.

I then went on to move the issue number, date and price and fixed the media icons and added a Pinterest icon on beside the Twitter and Facebook icon. i changed the colour of the website name and issue number date and price so its easier to see on the page.

I then went on to add a barcode scanner and moved the social media icons to over the website address to leave room for the barcode scanner.

`

I then went on to add a skyline to the top of the page above the mast head which is red with black writing so keep with the house style.

I then went onto change the font of the cover line to impact font so they would stand out more on the cover page. I changed the main cover line to Monotype Corsiva and made it bigger compared to the other cover lines. I also made the masthead bigger so it could stretch across the top of the magazine cover.

I then went on to add pull quotes to the cover which relate to the double page spread article i done this to make the magazine cover more realistic and to fill blank space on the cover.

Peer Feedback On My 1st Draft Of My Front Cover

Here I have got peer feedback from my class peers and see what I need to do on my magazine cover and what I have done well on my 1st draft.

Construction of My 1st Draft Front Cover

Here is how i made my 1st draft of my front cover of my music magazine i have done this to show the changes i will make in the second draft and to show you how i made my front cover.

Here i have moved the masthead and the main image onto indesign so i could make the cover more professional looking. I experimented on using different fonts for my cover. I placed the masthead in the top left hand corner and it takes up most of the top of the cover. I then went on to place the main image on the page i then went to place coverlines around the main image to make the cover more realistic. I made the main coverline black so it stands out from the rest of the coverlines on the page and also made it bigger compared the to the rest of the coverlines.

I placed a barcode and social media icons on the cover of my magazine in the bottom left corner so it looks more realistic to the audience. In the bottom right corner of the magazine i have included the magazines website and issue number, price and date on the top right corner of the magazine.

Making My 1st Draft Of My Front Cover- Main Image

Here is how i made my 1st draft of my front cover of my music magazine i have done this to show the changes i will make in the second draft and to show you how i made my front cover.

Here is the original image that i used before i edited the photo using photoshop. When i started to edit my photo i duplicated the layer so that i could remove the background of the photo i did that by using the rectangualr marque tool, magic wand tool and the rubber tool to remove the background around my artist.

Here i used the spot healing tool to remove all blemishes that are on my artists face or skin so that her skin look nice when it is on my front cover of my music magazine.

Here i used the colour replacement tool to brighten up the whites of her eyes, teeth and coat for the front cover of my music magazine.

Making My 1st Draft Of The Front Cover- Masthead

Here is how i made my 1st draft of my front cover of my music magazine i have done this to show the changes i will make in the second draft and to show you how i made my front cover.

I went and look for a font i could use for my music magazine front cover and i went on to dafont.com and found this font i liked. i had to use the rectangular marque tool to crop around the text and to take away the white from the image. i also used the magic wand tool to get the white that is close to the writing away.

Photoshoot Plans

Here i have done my photoshoot plans for my music magazine. I have done one for my front cover,Contents page and for my double page spread this will help me to plan the layout for my music magazine.

Music Magazine Flat Plans

Here i have done flat plans for my front cover, contents page and double page spread. I have done this to get an idea on how i should lay out each of my pages that i am to do. I have done one set of flat plans on the computer and i have drawn the other set of flat plans.

Cover Page
Here is my 1st flat plan for my front cover i have done. The magazine will be called Revive at the top left of the page which keeps with the normal convention of a magazine. I will have one main image of the band which will take up the most of the page so that there isn't any white space on the cover of the magazine. The cover will be able to pull out to see the rest of the band as the front of the cover will just show the main singer of the band and then as you pull out the rest of the cover you will discover the rest of the band. I will have the band's name stretch across the top of the page. I will have different pull quotes around the page and one main cover lines at the bottom of the photo. at the corner of the page i will have names of other bands that are featured in the magazine. I will have a colour scheme through out the magazine which will include three colours which are Pink,Purple and white and this will continue throughout the magazine.

Contents Page

Here i have my first contents page flat plan and this will help me to decide on how i want to layout my contents page. I have use an abbreviation at the top of the page RM2015 which stands for Revive Magazine 2015 which i have under it. I have  the magazine's slogan Live,Life,Loud under it which adds to the feature of the magazine. I will have a thumb nail of the cover in the top corner to realate with the main article that will be featured on the contents page. I will have a regulars and features area on the contents page so that the magazine is easy to navigate. I will also have other images on the page of different articles that are featured in the magazine and at the bottom of the page i will have pictures of different musicians who have featured in the magazine. I will have Contents wrote at the bottom left corner of the page going vertically up the page.

Double Page Spread

Here i have my first double page spread flat plan i have done this to give me a idea on how i should layout my double page spread. At the top left corner i will have the name of the magazine Revive to remind you what magazine it is and at the top right corner i will have the name of the band. I will have the name of the article strecth across both of the pages so that it stands out on the page. i will have two collums on each page for the body text of the article. At the top of the first page i will have a small blur about the article and the name of the journalist who wrote the article. I will have different pictures on both pages so that it breaks up all the text and isn't hard to read. Around the page i will have different pull quotes from the article.

2nd Cover Page

Here i have my 2nd cover page flat plan that i drew  i will have the name of the magazine on the top left hand corner going down the page which will be in bold red text with a black outline to run with the colour scheme of the magazine which is red, black and white and this will run through the whole magazine. I will have a picture of the band in the centre of the page which will take up most of the page so that there is no white space, the photo will be of the band standing in different distances away from each other to give a indie-rock vibe. I will have different pull quotes around the main photograph from the main article that will be featured on the double page spread. I will have different cover lines around the cover page which will be in smaller text than the main coverline. At the top right cover i will have Free posters inside wrote which will intise people to buy the magazine and in the centre of the magazine beside Free magazine i will have the magazine's slogan Live,Life,Loud. At the top left of the page i will have the issue number, date and price of the magazine so that you can easliy see how much it is, what date its from and what issue it is.

2nd Contents Page

Here i have my 2nd flat plan for my contents page, i done this to help me decide on how i will layout my contents page so that is easy to navigate around. At the top left of the page i have put Inside Revive so it gets your attention when you open the magazine. Beside it i will have the slogan Live,Life,Loud in bold letters so it stands out on the page. Under  the main heading on the page i will have the main coverline about the band that is featured on the cover and the double page spread. I will have two collums on the page that will have features and regualars that are in the magazine i have done this to make the contents page easy to navigate. At the other side of the page i will have four photos of artists that are featured in the magazine with the page number in the bottom corner of the page. I will have the issue number, date and price at the bottom of the page to remind people what issue it is and the date and price.

 2nd Double Page Spread

This is my 2nd double page spread i have done this because it will give me a idea on how i should lay out my double page spread.  I will have revive wrote at top of the page in the centre and under that i will have the name of the article in red bold text with a black outline so that is stands out on the page. under i will have a small blurb about the article and the name of the journalist who wrote the article  in bold text it will be  in smaller text than the heading. I will have two columns that will hold the text from the the article. On the 2nd page i will have a picture of the band that will take up the whole page and there will be pull quotes around the photo that will relate to the article.
